English Language Teaching Textbook in Makassar University

The aims of this study is to investigate the experiences 12 Makassar University lecturers in planning and writing their English language teaching (ELT) textbooks. results interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) revealed that, despite a number pedagogical issues challenges, these had positive attitude toward ELT textbooks, as by an in-depth semi-structured individual interview (IDI) focus group discussion (FGD). They believed that creating resources for classes would not only help them meet students' linguistic demands, but also improve lecturing experience. This article argues textbook classroom use form reflective practice allows provide students with appropriate activities lessons effective learning, drawing on Tomlinson's notion importance personalizing localizing textbooks maximize learning. findings' ramifications are addressed, recommendations made.
